Alex Eagle is known for transcending the title of Creative Director and building timeless brands for a modern world. The founder of Alex Eagle Studio seamlessly transitions from designing and curating fashion, art, furniture and spaces through the many ventures she’s a part of; Eagle & Hodges, The Store X, Alex Eagle Sporting Club, Oakley Court and 180 Health Clubs.

As she is no stranger to hand-crafted, modern essentials with a strong eye for good denim, who would be more perfect to be this month's curator of The Guest Edit? Continue reading to learn more about how Alex approaches curating a space, her formula for the perfect outfit and more importantly, how she prioritizes self care as an extremely busy woman.

How do you approach curating a space? What are a few key tips you’d offer to anyone about to approach curating themselves?

When designing a space, my advice would be to not over think it and choose the things you really love, if you love it, it will all work together. Also, don’t be afraid of a space feeling empty while you take your time to curate your pieces.

When getting dressed, what item do you feel incomplete without?

I tend to dress quite simply, focussing on investing in wardrobe staples and well made pieces, so I love to elevate an outfit with a special piece of jewellery. For example, a Fernando Jorge gold chain or vintage watch.

“Everything around me inspires my designs, culture is key as my brand is as much of a lifestyle brand as it is fashion.”

In your opinion, what features do the perfect pair of jeans have?

I think good quality denim is the best place to start, I also prefer a jean without stretch. What I love about DL1961 is that it has that lived in, vintage feel.

How does culture impact your collections, and what inspires your designs?

Everything around me inspires my designs, culture is key as my brand is as much of a lifestyle brand as it is fashion. I focus on making special, elevated pieces that you want to wear everyday.

Do you prioritize style or function, and how do you blend the two?

I always look at function first as I want to create clothes that you want to put on from first thing in the morning to out in the evening. I then pair my designs with the most beautiful fabrics I can find to fit the form to create elevated, luxurious wardrobe staples.

Who are your style icons, and how have they influenced you over time?

There are so many! I love the paired back style of Katharine Hepburn and the minimalist style of Carolyn Bessette. I also think Lauren Hutton was great at making something relaxed like a pair of jeans elegant and cool.

What do you do to wind down and focus on self care?

Read, hang out with my kids, pilates, long-walks. For a proper reset I love to visit Buchinger Wilhelmi in Germany and Chenot Palace Weggis in Switzerland.
