There are few people in this world who's personal appearance precede the individual as a whole. Upon meeting Pete on that fateful afternoon over three years ago, it became apparent that this man they refer to as "DJ PS1" is as recognizable for his hair as he is for his mash-ups. I won't divulge the efforts that are put into creating his signature coiffure, but I will note that is it often the subject of jealousy (or, at least, I like to think) of his fellow nightlife colleagues. However, his dark locks are but a mere minor detail in PS1's overall sense of being and style, as his professionalism and work ethic are truly something to be admired. Honing his skills in the country's most prominent nightclubs, the native New Yorker is the epitome of casual and cool in basic t-shirts, sneakers, and skinny jeans. Or, as Pete might like to refer to it, his "uniform." Over the years, I have watched both his style evolve and dreams come to fruition as he has worked alongside the likes of David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Afrojack. Despite throngs of fans watching in amazement as he provides their entertainment for the evening, Pete maintains a humble demeanor which will only contribute to his continued success. And it doesn't hurt that he's pretty darn cute, too.

DJPS1 debunks every stereotype and predisposition of a DJ you may have. Unlike his hard-partying, womanizing colleagues, he is actually extremely shy and introverted, which makes him all the more endearing. Watching him during his sets, you can tell that nothing else matters but the music. As a native New Yorker (he born and raised in NYC's Queens), who has been working in the business since 17, he has lived a life by 27 that most people won't in a lifetime. And that's a pretty good reason to have him on this list.
Denim is universal. Regardless of your style or the kind of lifestyle you lead, denim plays an integral part in all our lives. We identified a select group of distinguished New Yorkers with a unique sense of style to represent DL1961's Denim Movement. Each of the following participants is a personification of the DL1961 brand: a pioneer in their respective profession with notable achievements in his/her undeniably demanding industry. Beginning June 1st and running throughout the summer, we will highlight a progressive New Yorker making great things happen in their field. At the end of August, once all nominees have been revealed, fans can then vote for their favorite denim movement member on our website.
